Costumed kids ready to compete for cash Sun., Oct. 31, 2010; 2:20 p.m. at the Tot Lot at Livingston Park in Belmont Shore

Sign-in at Livingston Park any time from 2-2:20 p.m. Contest begins promptly at 2:25 p.m. You'll be judged along the parade route.

200+ Costumed Kids Expected to Compete for 2010 Halloween CA$H


THERE WILL BE $100
cash awarded during the 8th annual Southern California Kids' Halloween Costume Contest at the Tot Lot at Livingston Park (Livingston Dr. @ Park Ave.) in Belmont Shore. The event sponsored by Justin Rudd and his nonprofit 501c3 the Community Action Team, is for kids 12 and younger and is free to enter. More than 250 costumed kids are expected to be judged on creativity, originality and first impression. Can you come and enter? Sign-up on-site starts one hour before the contest.


HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST PHOTOS

THE TOP-TEN costumed kids will each receive $10 cash from Justin Rudd's Community Action Team.

KIDS INVITED TO PARADE
All kids' costume contestants will walk in the 10th Annual Haute Dog Howl'oween Parade. We encourage the kids to walk at the front of the parade before the first dogs.
CLICK HERE for details about the Howl'owen Parade. The parade begins at 2:30 from Livingston Park. I expect that the final dog will step off approx. 3:30 p.m.

PARKING
Metered parking is available along Second St. and in adjacent public parking lots until 7 p.m., daily. Free parking on most Belmont Shore neighborhood streets surrounding the park.



CAT IS AN UMBRELLA organization made up of programs and events you may already be familiar with: the 30-Minute Beach Cleanup; the $1,000 Southern California Spelling Bee Championship; Operation Santa Paws; the July 4 Kids' Bike Parade; the Kids' Halloween Costume Contest; Operation Easter Basket; the Thanksgiving Day 5K/10K Turkey Trot and the various Haute Dog projects.

THE MAIN PURPOSE
of the Community Action Team (CAT) is to promote social well-being among the general public. CAT is a 501c3 is governed by a board of directors. Contributions are tax deductible and are used to help produce quality events within our community that benefit children, animals, and the environment. Some monies also go towards event permits, insurance, Web hosting, refreshments, prizes, printing, advertising, salary and office administrative costs. CAT also collects financial and material contributions for other local support agencies.

  The Great American 4th of July Kids' Bike Parade
- Patriotic kids dress up their bikes and parade on the beach bike path.

  XKIDS' COSTUME CONTEST
  $100 Kids' Halloween Costume Contest
- Searching for the best costumes in Southern California.

  X OPERATION EASTER
  Operation Easter Basket
- Springtime baskets filled with school supplies, hygiene items, art supplies, socks, underwear, toys and candy. More than 1,100 baskets are collected and distributed annually to underserved kids.

  X SIDEWALK CHALK ART
  Belmont Shore Sidewalk Chalk Art & Poetry Contest
- High schoolers, college students and adults will use chalk as their medium and 2nd Street sidewalks as their canvas.

  X L.B. TURKEY TROT
  - More than 3,000 runners and walkers take part in a 5K/10K scenic beach bike path fundraiser on Thanksgiving Day in Long Beach
